Tips for healthy, shiny & luxurious hair

The best advice I can give you is drink plenty of water. Water not only hydrates your skin it also hydrates your hair.  A quarter of the content of a strand of your hair is water, which is why drinking plenty of water is vital for healthy hair.

Another major content of your hair is protein. Eating plenty of protein rich foods will give your hair strength and help prevent your hair from breakage. Fish, meats, cheese & milk are great sources of protein.
Have you ever heard of the term “I’m off to get my beauty sleep”?? Well it is quite literally true. When you’re sleeping your body starts repairing damages that have been done throughout the day, including any hair damage. So getting plenty of sleep is a must. It is best to sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase.  When you are sleeping you toss and turn all night long and without knowing it your hair gets tugged and ruffled, but if you have a silk/satin pillowcase your hair will glide on the pillow and this will help control frizz and further damage.
Is your hair dry & damaged? A great temporary fix is a hot oil treatment. The best part about an oil treatment is you can do it yourself in the comfort of your own home. There is no need to go to a salon and spend your hard earned cash. All you basically need is olive oil, a cup and a towel.       Wash and condition your hair as you usually do then towel dry. Fill your bathroom sink with a small amount of hot water. Put about ¼ cup of oil (more or less depending on the length of your hair) into the cup and immerse the cup into the hot water. Leave for a couple of minutes until the oil is warm. (It is best to test the temperature of the oil on the inside of your wrist before applying to your scalp, if it’s too hot let it cool for a while). While the oil is warming, fill another sink with warm water and soak the towel in the water, then wring out the excess water. Take the oil and massage it into your hair and scalp. Take the warm towel and wrap it around your head. Allow the heat and oil to work for 15-20 minutes. After this time, rinse and shampoo your hair thoroughly. The olive oil will condition and improve the strength and elasticity of your hair. It will also help people with dandruff as it puts moisture into your scalp. Your locks will be soft, luxurious and Hairvenly  J
