How to deal with Brittle Hair

If your hair is brittle, it is important to treat it gently in order to prevent breakage. Here are five tips that will help you deal with your brittle hair.

1. Deep Condition your hair each week.

The most important way to protect brittle hair is to strengthen it with moisture. You can purchase a deep conditioner at the store of you can make your own by dousing your hair in olive oil before you wash it.

2. Rinse your hair in beer.

Although it sounds odd, beer makes your hair strong, soft and sleek. After washing, use a can of beer as a final rinse for shiny, lustrous hair. Just be sure to then rinse with water so that you do not smell like beer all day.

3. Make sure that your diet is nutritionally complete.

Your brittle or weak hair may be due to the things you eat or, more precisely, the things you are not eating. Make sure that your diet includes all the necessary vitamins for strong hair like vitamins A, E and C.

4. Only wash your hair when it is dirty.

One cause of brittle hair is over-washing. If your hair does not feel dirty, do not wash it. Washing clean hair only strips it of important moisture and weakens it.

5. Avoid brushing your hair when it is wet.

Brushing wet hair can cause breakage and split ends, damaging your hair and making it weak. While your hair is wet, gently pick out any tangles with a wide-toothed comb.

Beer!!! Not just a drink but a GREAT Hair Treatment

Beer has phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and maltose which make beer a natural hair care ingredient. Biotin in beer prevents hair loss and dandruff, maltose nourishes smooths and brings natural shine in the hair and the yeast strengthens your strands and adds lots of volume.
Well known celebrity Catherine Zeta- Jones admitted to washing her hair with beer so this proves we aren’t going loopy and your hair won’t get drunk.

So next time you’re about to wash your locks, borrow a can or bottle of beer from your dad , bf or husband, let it reach room temperature and follow these directions.
1. Shampoo your hair as usual.
2. Pour the can or bottle of beer over your damp hair and massage it into your scalp and hair. Leave in your hair 1-2 minutes.
3. Rinse and apply your conditioner.

Your hair will be left silky soft and full of volume. I bet your thinking.....will my hair have a weird after smell after I tried pouring beer? The answer is NO. When I did this on myself I couldn’t smell any beer residue on my hair. But if you are worried about a smell simply add a few drops of your favorite aromatherapy oil to the beer before applying it onto your hair.

Cheers.

How To Turn Hair That Looks & Feels Like Straw Into Gorgeous Silky Locks

Do you use your hair straightner or curling tongs every day? Did your hairdresser fry your hair when she dyed it from dark brown to white blonde? Do you stay out in the sun all the time??  If you answer “yes” to any of these questions you’ll probably be suffering with extremely dry and frazzled hair.  But wait.......before you start thinking of shaving all your hair off, I have some great news!!!! Your hair can be saved, just follow the tips below and you’ll notice a difference within a few weeks J

1)      Put your hair straightner, curling irons and hairdryer in a safe place where you can’t access them.  The heat from these tools is the main reason and cause of fried hair. Try letting your hair air dry instead of blow drying or before you go to bed, plait your hair and when you wake in the morning you’ll have gorgeous waves with no heat.

2)      Have your hair trimmed every 4 weeks. Cutting off the split ends will make your hair look thicker and healthier. You don’t need to have a drastic cut, just 1 or 2 inches every 4 weeks should do the trick.

3)      Try not to wash your hair every day. Water can be very drying to your hair and it’s also good to let some of the natural oils that are released from your scalp work their magic on your scalp and hair. If your hair gets super greasy fast, purchase a dry shampoo such as Klorane gentlydry shampoo

4)      Invest in a good deep conditioner. Look for a product that contains keratin and is labelled for dry, damaged hair.  Deep condition your hair twice a week and leave the product in your hair for a good 10 minutes. Once you rinse the product off your hair you’ll instantly feel the difference in your. My personal favourite deep conditioner is the redken extreme strength builder mask

5)      Another big culprit of hair damage is sun damage. Every now and again wear a chic floppy hat or when you’re doing your daily jog/walk wear a sport cap to help keep the sun’s rays off your hair.

If you follow some of these easy tips your hair will thank you for it and you’ll definitely notice a difference.
